Cebu as a province embraces a collection of smaller islands in addition to the main Cebu Island. The most significnat smaller island East of Cebu Island is Mactan Island. Mactan Island is where Cebu's International and Domestic Airport terminals are located as well as many first class resort hotels, beach resorts and inns; Mactan Island alos boats a golf course, flim studios and a collection of duty free technology parks, which attract significant international investment and employment into the Visayan region.

The Island of Cebu has rolling hills, with spectacular views, and flat area's located near the coastline and in the North. What is now Cebu City was called Sugbu when the Spaniards arrived in l52l. The small fishing village of Sugbu has been developed into a major metropolitan center with a wide varioety of businesses that attract foreigners and expatriates, who settle down in or near Cebu City. The Island of Cebu is more than 200 Km long and 40 Km at it's widest point, making touring around Cebu Island on motorbike a very popular holdiday choice. Cebu Island lies in the heart of the Visayan Islands - between Negros, Bohol and Leyte. Full of attractive places of interest: Cebu City, with it's many historical and cultural sites; Mactan Island, with it's many beach resorts and a golf course; Moalboal for superb scuba diving, snorkeling and freediving; Badian where the Kawasan Falls are located; and, some less developed, beaches on the islands of Bantayan and Malapascua. |
